When AJ Shepard designed a locally significant and historically appropriate garden for the CAL TRANS Freeway Engineering Department in Southern California, he felt he had found his life long profession. Not many people have that insight to their future. Remarkably not only was this Mr. Shepard's first project, but he was still attending high school at the time. Of course, Mr. Shepard is indeed unique among his colleagues.

Before graduating from California Polytechnic College at San Luis Obispo, his talents insured him a job as soon as he graduated from a prestigious architectural design firm, The Peridian Group. Before he would start, however, he planned a sojourn to Europe, the first of several return trips. During his travels, he continued learning about the great European gardens and culture, building on his college studies. Mr. Shepard continued his travels in Europe and the Orient over the years.

Today he incorporates extensive design research from his travels including details, colors, textures, and materials into stunning estates enjoyed by his equally worldly and well-traveled clientele. AJ Shepard established his firm, Shepard Architectural Landscaping, in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to his love of travel and exploration of other cultures, he has been involved with local service organizations serving youth and assisting seniors as well as local environmental preservation groups. Mr. Shepard has been a registered Landscape Architect for more than 25 years. As a distinguished architect, Mr. Shepard has been awarded several honors, design awards, and conservation design awards.
